Our story
Where it all began
Founded by good friends Halina and Teresa, Bumbles Interiors began, like many good things do, with a big idea and maybe a little bit of panic too.
In April 2024 we took on a small shop at Belvoir Castle’s Engine Yard, slightly wondering how on earth we were going to fill it. We started with lampshades. Halina had the idea, Teresa began making the shades, and Martin (Halina’s husband) crafted the wooden bases. What began as “let’s see if this works” quickly grew into something much bigger.
We outgrew that little shop faster than we ever expected. A larger space followed, then more commissions, more ideas, and now we’re in an even bigger space, still slightly amazed at how it all happened.
Made to last, not mass-produced
Everything we create or source follows the same thinking: good materials, made properly, with care.
Alongside our own handmade pieces, we bring together a collection of interiors from British brands and independent makers — chosen for their quality, character and longevity.
We prioritise sustainable materials wherever we can, from English oak and sweet chestnut to repurposed fabrics and furniture, giving beautiful materials a second life.
A more personal way to shop
Our workshop is open, relaxed and always welcoming.
You’re free to browse fabrics, talk through ideas and take your time - usually with a cuppa in hand. Whether you’re choosing something ready-made or creating something bespoke, it’s a collaborative, unhurried process.
And more often than not, customers don’t stay customers for long - they become familiar faces, and often friends.
Thoughtful, in every sense
We believe in doing things the right way, not the fast way.
That means supporting British makers, working responsibly, and creating pieces that are made to be kept. It also means taking the time to get to know the people we’re creating for, because the best results always come from a good conversation.
We’re also proud to support local animal charities each year - a small part of what matters to us.
